Anthony Hopkins NFT Collection Sells Out in 7 Minutes

Oscar Winner Anthony Hopkins released his first NFT art collection, “The Eternal Collection,” on the NFT marketplace OpenSea on October 13th, 2022. The collection sold out in a record-breaking time of under seven minutes. The NFT showcases 1,000 unique works of cinematic art that were inspired by diverse performances from the actor’s extensive career in Hollywood.

1000 Unique NFTs Included in this collection will be:
10 Unique and random 1 of 1 Signature Animation NFTs, each featuring a different character archetype
990 Unique 1 0f 1 images based on the 10 archetypes

Anthony Hopkins won the Oscar for his performance as Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs and the TV series Westworld. The project took to Twitter to announce that it was the fastest-selling NFT collection on Open Sea. To which the actor took to Twitter to celebrate the success, saying, “Adding this milestone to the repertoire. Thank you, everyone. Thrilling day.” 

The NFT pieces contained various visuals and animations titled The Eternal (the 1 of 1 NFT), The Jester, The Lover, The Ruler, The Rebel, The Giver, The Hero, and so on. All of these are said to be “an interpretation of the vast character archetypes Sir Anthony Hopkins has portrayed” in his career, the project’s marketing claims.

The NFT was created in association with Orange Comet, Inc., a design studio that focuses on Web3 and NFT.  It is an LA-based company co-founded by Hollywood Producer Dave Broome, ex-NFL player Kurt Warner, and musicians Gloria and Emilio Estefan.

Allegedly the collection was delayed by over 45 minutes from launch due to technical issues that came with the high demand. But it sold out in just a few minutes. The drop happened during mid-September.

The NFT featured three release phases – 

1. Iconic Category
2. Legendary Category
3. Distinguished Category

The iconic category featured a single NFT sold to the highest bidder, incorporating all 10 archetypes. The winner would receive framed prints of the NFTs and a copy of Dreamscapes, which contains hundreds of paintings and drawings in vivid color, signed by the actor himself. In addition to that, they will be entitled to an intimate lunch/brunch with Hopkins.

The legendary category contains ten distinct, one-of-a-kind animated NFTs with various character archetypes. These buyers would also receive the autographed NFT framed prints and Dreamscape book.

The distinguished category was 1,000 unique one-of-one NFTs. The NFT includes one signed print of an archetype. In addition, 39 buyers received the autographed Dreamscaped book and a discord chat with the actor.

The NFT collection was not just artwork; it came with some extra benefits. The NFT owners are entitled to signed physical prints of the actor’s paintings, drawings, and audio clips about the archetypes. A few lucky people would get the opportunity to converse with Anthony Hopkins via Zoom.

Hopkins and his wife choose a charity to receive a share of the sales revenues.

However, this is not the first time that Hopkins has ventured into the art world. The actor has been painting since the late 1940s and had his first solo exhibition at Harte International Galleries, located in Miami, back in the mid-2000s. 

The actor made his foray into the NFT world after starring in the 2021 thriller ‘Zero Contact.’ The movie was directed by Rick Dugdale and was released via an NFT platform Vuele.
